Climate
The climate around Narsaq is quite extraordinary, which has led climatologists to name it sub-arctic. Particularly in the inner of the fiords the climate is very much like temperate, but due to the extreme winter-temperatures, this climate is neither temperate nor arctic. For summer visitors the climate will appear to be very mild and pleasant. Occasionally the Narsaq area experience short Föhn-storms, which is fast-moving hot winds from the inland-ice, but commonly the weather is stabile, offering long periods of warm and sunny days. For visitors in late august and September another phenomena is available - the northern lights. Narsaq is so fortunate to be situated right beneath one of the strongest bands of northern lights, which often illuminates the sky on clear afternoons and nights. Medium temperatures: February: ÷8 degrees Celsius, with a range from ÷2 to ÷30 degrees Celsius. July: 8 degrees Celsius, with a range from 5 to 20 degrees Celsius. If you wish to know more about the weather in Greenland or the temperature in Narsaq right now you can visit the web-site of the Danish Meteorology Institute at this address: http://www.dmi.dk/vejr/gron/index.html |
