The World Ice Golf Championships

Programme

Day 1st
Flights to Uummannaq Greenland. Late afternoon welcome and introduction to the town of Uummannaq and the tournament.
 
Day 2nd
Practice and Niemann Cup (Ryder Cup Style).
Local entertainment in the evening.
 
Day 3rd
Official opening of the fifth World Ice Golf Championship by the mayor of Uummannaq. Nine holes will be played twice.
 
Day 4 th
Second day of tournament. Nine holes will be played twice. In the evening there will be a gala dinner with the presentation of the prizes and entertainment at the Hotel Uummannaq.
 
Day 5 th
Day for relaxation and excursions. The day will be used as a buffer day in case of bad weather during the tournament.
 
Day 6 th
Departure from Uummannaq early in the morning.
 

To participate
Anyone with a handicap under 36 can take part. Play is over 36 holes (2 days).

According to programme with start in Uummannaq, Greenland 2.000 EURO (flights not included).Accompanied price is 1.500 EURO also to be paid upon arrival

Accommodation:
Uummannaq, Greenland:
The players will stay at the attractively situated Hotel Uummannaq with panoramic views across the ice fjord and the icegolf course. Accommodation will be in single and double rooms with full board.

Air Greenland has international connections via Copenhagen in Denmark 5 days a week. Book your flights online from Copenhagen (CPH) to Uummannaq (UMD) Greenland on March 20th and return from Uummannaq to Copenhagen on March 25 th 2008.

Recommended clothing
The following is recommended as a minimum:
  • Breathable (Gore-Tex type) wind-tight warm jacket and overtrousers with good freedom of movement
  • A good fleece jacket which is warm, light and breathable.
  • Heat-insulating thermal underwear/long johns underneath overtrousers.
  • Sports underclothes which draw perspiration away from the skin and allow it to evaporate.

  • Warm hat with ear flaps. Gloves. Scarf.
  • Strong sunglasses.
  • Strong sun cream, min. Factor 20.
  • Footwear with thermal insulation (ordinary golf shoes cannot be recommended in the cold).
  • Warm socks.
  • Warm and comfortable sealskin suits and Greenlandic sealskin-topped boots can be hired at the hotel.

Reservation regarding changes:
In view of the flying conditions in Greenland, weather conditions, etc. we reserve the right to make changes to the championships. Extreme weather conditions may prevent planned flights from taking place and force organisers to change or cancel the championship.
 
We recommend that you take out cancellation insurance through . A travel and accident insurance policy that covers sporting events is compulsory. The World Ice Golf Committee cannot be held responsible for personal injury that may occur during your stay in Greenland.
